Abstract

|
This study was attempted to assess physical health ststus of rural poor elderly coming welfare centers in Pusan and to provide basic data for the policy related to the elderly. Data were collected from the elderly coming welfare centers in Pusan from Dec. 1, 1995 to Jan. 31, 1996. The instrument, a structured questionnaire developed by Choi & Chung, was used. The results were summarized as follows: 1. The average score of the subjects’ health status in physical aspects was 3.631 in a 5-point Likert scale. Among 6 factors represented the physical health, ability to personal hygiene activities obtained the highest score, 4.633, then the following scores were: elimination(4.557), sensation(4.318), outside activity(3.436), digestion(3.413), and sexual life(1.439). 2. Sex, marital status, religion, education, living arrangement, amount of pocket money, an perceived health ststus were significantly related to their physical health ststus.
